Who Can Donate?
B.C.'s Local Elections Campaign Financing Act sets who may contribute to a local election campaign. You can make a campaign contribution if you are a resident of B.C. and a Canadian citizen or permanent Canadian resident. Organizations, including businesses, unions, societies and associations, cannot contribute or reimburse someone else for contributing. Contributions must be made with your own money or property. They cannot be made indirectly with another person's money, or be reimbursed by anyone. The 2026 limit is $1,429.70 per contributor, per campaign. This applies to money, property and services combined.

What Happens with your Information?
We're required to record your full name and residential address for every contribution. If you give $100 or more, your name and the amount will be published by Elections BC in its Financial Reports and Political Contributions system. Campaign contributions are not eligible for tax receipts.
